Land activities are around advocating for land policies and laws in Uganda that provide equitable access to and utilization of land resources such as the inheritance of land by women.
Women are the majority land users and therefore have a stake in its preservation and conservation. PELUM also advocates for genuine legal frameworks that ensure agricultural production and productivity for food security/sovereignty in the country.
This is done through;
- Awareness creation on land related issues and policies among member organizations and farmers and their implications for small scale farming
- Providing input to draft national land related policy papers that are still receiving various comments/submissions from stake holders as civic participation
- Encouraging involvement of relevant CSOs in policy development working groups
- Building the capacity of member organizations on land policy processes; by giving them information on their rights to access and utilize land for increased agriculture production
