PELUM Uganda recognizes that information is critical and forms the basis of effective communication as well as networking. Proper information management serves as a way of linking up with various stakeholders and enhancing people’s understanding of the concept of ecological land use management as well as other key issues affecting the agriculture sector.
Specific Objective
To enhance information generation, sharing and dissemination among MOs and across other networks
- PELUM Uganda maintains regular information flow within the membership through publications (electronic and printed), documentaries, regular mail, sharing events, exchange and exposure visits within and outside Uganda and through partnerships with other relevant networks.
- PELUM Uganda is a member of networks such as Uganda Land Alliance, Sustainable Land Management and the PROLINNOVA programme (Promoting Local Innovations in Ecologically Oriented agriculture and natural resource management)
- PELUM Uganda contributes to the bi-annual Ground Up magazine, a newsletter with articles from other countries within the PELUM Association.
- PELUM Uganda also produces and distributes quarterly newsletters which focus on sharing in-country experiences on a particular theme.
- Exchange visits are conducted to share experiences in advocacy, organisational and institutional development and sustainable agriculture.
- The visits have proved to be very effective as they give an opportunity to member organisations to share field experiences that are practical and adoptable by others. Good practices are also shared with evidence of yielding results in the field.
- PELUM Uganda held an indigenous food fair event which brought together isolated cases of small holder farmers to showcase the potential that indigenous food has in addressing current food security problems. Through the event, PELUM Uganda was able to contribute to raising the profile of indigenous food for seed security
